It Started With a Little Scarf: Welcome to Knit for Paws

Welcome to Knit for Paws. I’m so happy you’re here.

For our first journal entry, I wanted to start with the little girl who inspired it all: my cat, Fubao.

She was born on my birthday, so we’ve shared something special from the very beginning. She’s clever, curious, and so adorable that my camera roll never seems to stop growing. To me, she is my child, my family, and the heart behind Knit for Paws.

And this whole journey began with a small gift for her.

A Little Gift for Her First 100 Days

When Fubao reached her first 100 days, I wanted to mark the occasion with something made just for her.

I picked up a crochet hook and made her a little scarf. It was a simple way to celebrate a milestone, but making it meant so much to me. Choosing the yarn, working through the stitches, and imagining her wearing it gave me somewhere to put all the love I felt for her.

That scarf became the beginning of Knit for Paws.

At the time, I was simply making something for my little girl. I didn’t know how much I would come to love crochet itself, or how many ideas would grow from that first piece.

Finding Joy in Every Stitch

I kept coming back to the yarn and hook.

I loved the quiet rhythm of crochet and the satisfaction of watching something take shape in my hands. Making things for Fubao became another way to feel close to her, and an invitation to notice the small moments we share.

A birthday. A sleepy afternoon. A familiar little face looking up at me.

More than anything, I wish her a long, healthy, happy life, with many more birthdays and ordinary days together. That feeling is still at the heart of this brand: the wish to celebrate the ones we love while we’re making memories with them.

Over time, that first scarf inspired ideas beyond pet accessories, including playful crochet bags and thoughtful gifts for the people who love them. I’m drawn to pieces with personality—something that makes you smile when you use it, wear it, or give it to someone special.

A Story That Grows Through Friendship

Three friends have become part of Knit for Paws along the way: one I met in middle school, one in high school, and one in college.

We came into each other’s lives at different times, but our shared love of animals and the natural world brought us closer. Now, those friendships are part of what helps this little brand grow.

We each bring our own perspective and ideas. What we share is an appreciation for the company of animals, time outdoors, and the small things that can brighten an ordinary day.

Building something together has brought a new kind of joy to friendships that already mean so much to me.

What We Hope Our Pieces Will Mean to You

Knit for Paws began with the belief that pets are family.

That belief shapes the things we care about: comfort, personal details, and the memories attached to even the simplest objects.

For anything a pet wears, their comfort comes first. There should be room to move freely, and their own preferences should always guide the moment.
